Zoshigaya Kishimojin Oeshiki Rengo-kai

Zoshigaya Kishimojin Oeshiki Mando Nerikuyo

Oeshiki is a memorial service for the founder of Nichiren Buddhism. Every year on October 13, this service is held at Homyoji Temple in the Zoshigaya neighborhood. Additionally, Kishimojin Oeshiki is held as part of the Kishimojindo festival every year October 16 to 18. Handheld uchiwa-daiko drums beat a distinctive rhythm, and lanterns resembling branches of weeping cherry blossoms are hoisted high, as the procession weaves through the streets for a magical autumn tradition loved by local people.
